In order toimprove the propagation effect of aloe, the effects of media component and culture condition on the propagation were analysized. Arapid propagation method with highly effective w as established using leaf explants of aloe. The resultss howed that the optimum shoot induction medium was MS+3.0m g/L6-BA+0.1mg/L NAA. The optimum shoot prolongation medium was MS+1.0mg/L GA3. The optimum shoot proliferation medium was MS+1.0mg/L6-BA+0.1mg/L IBA+5g/L citric acid. The optimum rooting medium was1/2MS+0.1mg/L IBA. All of the above media was supplemented with2%sucrose and8%agarin pH5.8. Regenerated plantsa fter ha rdening were transferred to soil consisting with vermiculite and muck (1:1) and they showed85%survival. The above p rotocol could be effectively used i n rapid micropropagation of aloe vera LIn addition, in order to clarify the purify effect of aloe on indoor hamful gas, the purify ability of aloe plants on di fferent concentration formaldehyde and ammonia were an alysized in different time using the airtight glass box method by spectrophotometry. The results showed that aloe can effectively purify formaldehyde and ammonia in airtight glass box. The purificaton rate can reach89.3%~100%. For low concentration formaldehyde (0.1,0.2,0.3mg/m3) and ammonia (0.25and0.5mg/m3), the gas concentration reduced to Omg/m3after purifiying of aloe plants. For high concentrations formaldehyde (0.40mg/m3) and ammonia (0.75and1.0mg/m3) treatment, the purification rate can reach89.3%,91.9%and82.1%after24h, respectively. In order to explore the purification physiological metabolism of aloe to formaldehyde and ammonia, this study analyzed the changes of dry matter content, soluble sugar content and malondialdehyde (MDA) under the stress of harmfulg ases.Under the stress of low concentrations of formaldehyde (0.1mg/m3) and ammonia (0.25mg/m3), the change of the content of dry matter, soluble sugar and MDA were not obvious. The physiological me tabolism altered little. With the increase of the concentration of formaldehyde or ammonia, the physiological metabolism of aloe plant was detrimentally affected. The dry matter contentw as reduced by about30%, soluble sugar content was increased by32%to41%, MDA content was increased by33%to44%. These results showed that the high concentration off ormaldehyde ora mmonia could detrimentally affect the physiological metabolism of aloe plant. The study provides some ex perimentalb asis to purification mechanismof indoor air, and also has some indirect significance of urban landscaping, environmental planninga nde cologicale nvironment construction.
