As a new technology of energy saving and environmental protection, UV-curing technology hasbeen widely studied for its numbers of advantages, including rapid curing speed, high efficiency, highquality products performance and so on. In this paper, UV-curing process and repairing performanceof epoxy resin and its composite are studied, which can promote the widely use of the UV-curingtechnology.(1) In order to achieve the preparation of the UV-curing samples, this paper analyzes andsummarizes the UV-curing process, completed the manufacture of the experimental UV-curingequipment.(2) To study UV-curing of epoxy resin, the optimized formula of epoxy resin systems is obtainedby regarding curing efficiency as evaluation standard, and the effects UV-curing process parameters isinvestigated through the design of orthogonal test. Above all, the mechanical properties of curedproducts in different curing methods are compared. The results reveal that the curing efficiencyreached the maximum when the proportion of the system for UV-curing is100to10to5ratio ofepoxy E51to active diluents660A to photoinitiator1176, the curing degree can reach more than90%after150s of curing. The order of UV-curing parameters that affect the curing degree is the UVintensity, the curing time and the temperature. The mechanical properties of the UV-cured productsare favorable, the tensile strength and modulus can reach32.34MP and1.80GPa and the flexuralstrength and modulus are60.64MP and1.73GPa, respectively.(3) In order to investigate the application of UV-curing technology in preparation of composite,the mechanical properties of the high silica glass fiber reinforced UV-curing epoxy composite isstudied, and the microstructure of the composite is also characterized. The results reveal that, themechanical properties of the high silica glass fiber reinforced UV-curing epoxy composite are betterthan the thermal curing composite, and the curing time is only5minutes,97.2%less than the thermalcuring. The UV-curing composite with secondary bond does not have an adverse effect on mechanicalproperties, instead it can improve the flexural strength. At the same time, the bonding between resinmatrix and fiber is good.(4) On the basis of the above study, the UV-curing composite is used to repair the pre-damagedlaminated beams to study its repairing performance.The results reveal that the high silica glass fiberreinforced UV-curing epoxy composite patches significantly increased the tensile strength of the damaged laminated beams, the strength of the repaired samples can reach84.1%of the standardsamples, and it is1.21times the strength of the unrepaired samples. Fiber reinforced UV-curing resinis a fast and effective method to repair damaged composite laminates.
