The fluorinated acrylate copolymers are widely used in textile, leather, paper, paint,packaging and others fields, due to their many special properties, including thermal resistance,chemical inertness, weather fastness, hydrophobicity and oleophobicity, self-clean properties,as well as excellent mechanical behavior. Although water and oil proofing agent of longfluorine carbon chain is widely used in the industry and it still has great application prospect.At present, water and oil proofing agent of domestic market is occupied by foreign brands. Inthis paper, effect of various elements to the synthesis of fluorinated acrylate latex wereinvestigated. Relationship between polymer structure and its performances were studied. Itwas expected that water and oil proofing agent with excellent stability and greathydrophobicity and oleophobicity were prepared. The main research contents are listed asfollows:First of all,2-(Perfluorooctyl) Ethyl Methacrylate was used as fluoride monomer.Effectof auxiliary solvent system, emulsifier dosage, main copolymerization monomer to theemulsion polymerization were studied. The stability of the prepared fluorinated acrylatecopolymers was tested by storage stability, centrifugal stability, mechanical stability, freezethawing stability and heat stability. The results showed that when auxiliary solvent A was asauxiliary co-solvent, SR-10and ER–30were as convergent emulsifier, and its dosage was3wt%, main monomer was butyl acrylate, the monomer emulsion process was used, thengood and stable properties emulsion of fluorinated acrylate was prepared.Secondly, effect of fluorinated acrylate emulsion hydrophobic and oleophobicperformance to fluoride monomer (TEMAc-8) dosage, senior methacrylate (SMA) dosage,silane coupling agent (A151)dosage were studied. The results showed that when TEMAc-8dosage was72wt%, SMA dosage was16wt%and A151dosage was5wt%, the fluorinatedacrylate emulsion had the best performance, the finished glass fiber paper water proof levelcan reach grade12, oil-repellent level can reach grade8. The contact angles of water andn-dodecane on the film were107.3°and56.5°, The contact angles of water and n-dodecane onthe paper were142.1°and131.4°. It had hydro-oleophobic properties. The fluorinated acrylatecopolymers were synthesized by Infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),it showed that each part of themonomers were involved in the copolymerization.Finally, the film surface crystallization and roughness of these copolymers were exploredwith X-ray powder diffraction, atomic force microscope(AFM) scanning electronmicroscope(SEM)and electron energy spectrum analysis (EDS), the results showed that with the increasing of fluorine monomer, the crystallization of copolymer was increasing. Due tothe crystallization properties of the copolymer, it was conducive to result in the surface phaseseparation of blending system and the nanometer roughness was produced. Energy spectrumanalysis showed that fluoride group had characteristics of surface migration, thus it canreduce the surface energy of copolymer, the water-and oil-repellent properties on thecopolymer surface was made by two sides work.
