The remaining sludge utilization of water treatment has always been a hot issueareas of concern, to recover energy from sludge material with good marketprospects and economic value, however, the current rate of methane productionprocess sludge generated methane is low, in order to further improve its rate ofmethane production, this subject through the use of sleeve-type anaerobic digestion-microbial electrolysis cell (MEC-AD) coupled reactor configuration, microbialelectrolysis hydrogen generation system to stimulate the growth of methanogensaddicted hydrogen, since hydrogen addicted addicted methanogens and joint actionof acetic acid methanogens in methanogenic reactor, so that the method can furtherpromote anaerobic digestion methane production rate will result in a microbialelectrochemical coupled with anaerobic digestion the methanogenic sludge andefficient system for the realization of surplus activated sludge fast and stable energyrecovery provides a new idea.First, the use of sodium acetate as the experimental substrate MEC singlechamber reactor startup, the reactor was introduced into the sludge fermentationuntil the reaction reaches a steady state after four cycles of operation, and the gasproduction was observed in broth the degradation of organic matter. In thefermentation broth as substrate single-chamber MEC hydrogen production reactorcan reach15.5mL/d, the overall energy efficiency of about120%, total sugarremoval of more than60%, volatile acid removal rate of63%. By this stage of thetest runs successfully, the following conclusions can be drawn, one can takeadvantage of microbial cell fermentation broth efficiently produce hydrogen, thesecond is its anode bacteria capable of efficient fermentation of organic matterdegradation of complex substrates have strong capabilities.In the MEC-AD coupled reactor, the hydrogen produced at the cathode may beaddicted to the use of hydrogen methanogens produce methane, a process that cancontribute to the effect of pure methane production of anaerobic digestion.Toprevent the hydrogen generated at the cathode, the anode lead to the use of bacteriato produce loss in the circulation between the anode and cathode, the hydrogen tomethane affect the efficiency of the structure of the sleeve used in the experiments,to minimize the loss of separation yin, focuses on the cathode alone coupled reactormethanogenic process the role.First, as a substrate for glucose MEC-AD methanecoupling reactor startup and stable operation of the reactor inlet and the AD groupcompared with the control, the rate of methane production is0.044m3CH4/m3dcontrol group (0.012m3CH4/m3d) of four times, glucose removal rate over90%.After replacing the substrate for the fermentation liquid, methane production MEC-AD coupled reactor reaches180mL/d, the methane production rate can beachieved0.144m3CH4/m3d, close to the control group1.5times.After replacing thesubstrate for the fermentation liquid, methane production MEC-AD coupled reactorreaches180mL/d, the methane production rate can be achieved0.144m3CH4/m3d,close to the control group (0.096m3CH4/m3d)1.5times.Through a comprehensive analysis of the test can be drawn,the remainingsludge fermentation broth through the sleeve-type MEC-AD reactor stable andefficient not only to produce methane while it can be a good removal of organicmatter,the remaining sludge resource development provides a good the practicalsignificance.
