The dynamic performance of feed drive system, as an important part of CNCmachine, has a key impact on the machining precision. For one thing, it becomes animportant performance indicator when the machine tool was installed, debugged,repaired and maintained. For another, it is a good reference to choose appropriatemachine tool according to the processing requirement of work pieces. What’s more,the forecast of its variation rule could provide foundation for proactive maintenanceof machine tool by monitoring the dynamic performance of feed system in the longrun. Therefore, the research on test and evaluation method for dynamic performancesof feed system of CNC machine tool has great values both in theory and engineeringpractice. The main achievements are as follows:(1) The effective test and evaluation method for the dynamic performance of feedsystem was presented. In this case, three different excitation signals were given tomachine tool and the response data could be get through grating scale. Thegeneral evaluation results of the dynamic performance of feed system could becalculated with Analytic Hierarchy Process, combining the evaluation indexes:Response Efficiency, Position Precision, Speed Tracking Performance and DelayCharacteristic.(2) The dynamic performance of feed system was researched by modal analysis andharmonic response analysis. On the basis of rigid-flexible coupling dynamicmodel of feed system, the effect of friction on the dynamic performance of feedsystem was studied.(3) Based on the above fast test and evaluation method, the servo parameters wereoptimized through analyzing the effect of different parameters on dynamicperformance of feed system with the orthogonal experiment, and the effectivenessof the method was verified by comparison analysis.(4) The software system to test and evaluate the dynamic performance of feed systemwas developed. One subsystem was used to deal with the experiment data, whichwas run on DNC client in C/S model; the other subsystem was for setting thetesting parameters and evaluating dynamic performance of feed system, which was run on DNC server in B/S model.
