Currently in machine tool industry, enormous machine tools are faced with discard, which also provide numbers of available blanks for machine tool remanufacturing.Predicting the remaining fatigue life and evaluating the remanufacturability ofthe usedmachine tools’ parts have become an urgent need before remanufacture is executed. Therefore performing research on remaining fatigue life prediction andremanufacturability assessment is of great significance in machine toolremanufacturing. This paper focuses on remaining fatigue life prediction and remanufacturabilityassessment, such as service history of used machine tools’ parts, remaining fatiguelifeprediction model, evaluation model of remanufacturability. Based on the problemsmentioned above, the work carried out in this paper mainly includes the followings:Firstly, a parameterized model of gear is obtained with pro/e software anddynamics simulation model is established with msc/adams software, by which loadhistory is obtained; a finite element analysis is executed with ansys software to producestatic analysis results. Fatigue life distribution emerged from importing a combinationof the dynamics simulation results and finite element static analysis results into fe-safesoftware; Remaining fatigue life is acquired by the formula calculation.Secondly, parameters relating to materials, working conditions, gears’ geometryand the service life are selected as the input vector, while the remaining fatigue life ischosen as the output vector, then the remaining fatigue life predicting model isestablished based on BP(Back Propagation, BP).Thirdly, the remaining fatigue life is selected as the prerequisite of remanufacture, and then the indicators systems is determined. Remanufacturability assessment model isestablished based on the combination of matter-element theory and AHP(AnalyticHierarchy Process,AHP) method. Finally, an example of SKODA W250H mechanical transmission system’s gears isgiven to verify the validity of the proposed method.
