Parabolic slot type deep hole drill is widely used in deep hole processing,compared with the ordinary drill, parabolic slot type deep hole drill’s core is thickerand spiral angle is larger. Based on the finite element analysis software DEFORM-3D,combined finite element method with experimental research on the influence ofgeometric parameters and cutting parameters to the drilling performance of parabolicslot type deep hole drill. Specific content is as follows:(1)Based on the manufacturing process and CATIA V5software establishedthe three-dimensional entity model of parabolic slot type deep hole drill. The mainprocess includes draw the spiral slot section, create the tool helix shape, generate thefeatures at the top of the drill, form the entity of drill and grind chisel edge;(2)Based on the theory of finite element method, the three-dimensional finiteelement simulation model for drilling process of parabolic slot type deep hole drill isestablished by software DEFORM-3D. The key steps of finite element simulation areset processing parameters, import entity model, generate mesh, set the boundaryconditions, set the parameters of simulation control and remesh. Finite elementsimulation scheme is designed by single factor method, and successfully simulatedthe forming process of the chip, get the stress nephogram in the process of drilling, aswell as the temperature distributed nephogram and the axial force and torque diagramin the process of drilling. Analysis the influence law of the geometric parameters andcutting parameters to parabolic slot type deep hole drill in the process of drilling;(3)Through experimental study the law of drilling force and acousticemission (AE) signal in the process of drilling, and the comparison of theexperimental values with the simulation values of drilling force shows that the finiteelement model is reasonable and feasible. Study the wear conditions of parabolic slottype deep hole drill in the process of drilling by AE characteristic parameterseffectively voltage (RMS).
