Combining Aniline Black with Nanocrystalline Cellulose (NCC), this paper prepared anew kind of composite pigment, which not only retained the original properties of AnilineBlack like high tinting strength, stability, soft appearance and extinction effect, but alsopossessed the advantage of NCC like small-long-size, hydrophily, Young modulus andpolymeric level.Firstly, this paper investigated the effects of K2Cr2O7dosage on productive rate andcolour of Aniline Black, and discussed the effects of temperature rise on the characteristics ofAniline Black. With the adding of K2Cr2O7dosage, aniline was oxidized and became AnilineBlack, and excess oxidants turned Aniline Black into solution. Aniline Black became greenwith low oxidants, became black with moderate oxidants and became brown with excessoxidants. It is mainly in the temperature higher than250℃that the component and structureof Aniline Black developed transformation. Different Aniline Black products prepared bydifferent anilines reactant had different characteristics of struction.Secondly, this paper researched the optimal process of NCC, compared the properties ofnanocrystalline cellulose prepared from different micro-crystalline cellulose (MCC) material, and discussed the effects of formaldehyde crosslinking reaction on microstructure and heatresistance of NCC. The best conditions of NCC were confirmed for:4h,55℃, the massfraction of sulfuric acid64%, and the impact strength of each factor were as followed: massfraction of sulfuric acid> hydrolysis time> hydrolysis temperature. The crystalline regionsand amorphous region of MCC were damaged during the acidolysis process, along with thelowering of melting point and decomposition temperature. Obvious long strip can be observedfrom the NCC just prepared, whose length range was from0.3μm to2.0μm and diameterwere less than50nm. Formaldehyde crosslinking reaction contributed to improve the heatresistance of NCC.Lastly, this paper made a conclusion for preparing Aniline Black&NCC compositepigment and Aniline Black&NCC composite pigment crosslinked by formaldehyde.Combining with NCC, the productive rate of Aniline Black improve significantly. Theproductive rate of Aniline Black&NCC composite pigment was154.1%, and the productiverate of Aniline Black&NCC composite pigment crosslinked by formaldehyde was161.0%,while the productive rate of pure Aniline Black was just57.0%. The pigment particles ofAniline Black have craggy shape and their particle size generally reached dozens of micron, while the appearance of composite pigment particles were similar to NCC and their length range was from0.3μm to1.0μm and diameter were less than100nm. Investigated by meansof fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis, the composite pigment showed similar feature as Aniline Black and NCC. The effects ofK2Cr2O7dosage on productive rate of composite pigment were in accordance with AnilineBlack, and with the increase of K2Cr2O7dosage, the rate of growth increased firstly and thendecreased. Formaldehyde crosslinking reaction contributed to improve the rate of growth andthe heat resistance of the composite pigment.
