Greenhouse emission generated by energy consumption triggered a series of issues thataffect human survival and development. With the rapid development of economic s andimprovement of people’s living standard, the energy consumption also continued raising. Howto control the environmental problems that caused by energy consumption has become a topicof widespread concern by the international community. Tourism is the largest industry in theworld, according to the World Tourism and Travel Organization (WTTC) statistics, the d irectand indirect revenue of international tourism industry accounted for9%of GDP in2012, andwith a4%growth rate in the next10years. Hotel industry as an important sector of tourismhas also been in rapid development. The hotel provides guests with a comfortableenvironment, but also produces lots of environmental problems. The purpose of this study is to more fully know the study status quo of the Hotel carbonfootprint, and to analyze the factors that affect the carbon footprint during the hotel operations.Through a combination of literature review and the current situation of our hotel industry,Thederivative conception Life cycle assessment(LCA)-the Life cycle energy analysis(LCEA)theory is introduced into the hotel industry, then constructed the framework of Hotel carbonfootprint assessment based on the Life cycle energy analysis(LCEA) method, and thenselected the cases for empirical analysis. Research from the quantitative point of view todefine the carbon footprint of the hotel, and then analyze the factors that affect thedecomposition of carbon footprint, expanding research perspective of hotel carbon footprint.By collecting the date of hotel energy consumption, then compilation and analysis, providing amethod for hotel managers and decision makers to analyze hotel environmental management.Through the analysis of case study, this paper comes to these main conclusions:About the energy consumption. From the view of energy consumption structure, electricity is the largest share in the hotel energy consumption, up to90%. From the view ofenergy consumption sector, food and beverage department is the main sector of natural gasconsume, housekeeping department accounted for70—80%of total energy consumption ofwater, Food and Beverage accounted for15—25%;Housekeeping department accounted for50—65%of total electricity consumption, Food and Beverage accounted for30—45%。About the carbon footprint. Judging from the source of carbon footprint, electricityconsumption is the main source of carbon footprint, up to95%; From the various departmentsof carbon emissions, Housekeeping department is the highest sector, followed by Food and Beverage. The hotel floor unit area energy consumption which energy use intensity value was102-163(kg/m2), Per capita carbon emissions of overnight guests was31kg/night.About factors which affect carbon footprint. The effect of per capita consumption, reception number and consumption structure were the main factors to increase the hotelcarbon footprint, Accumulated respectively produced57%,49%,14%carbon increment. Theeffect of energy structure is to inhibit the hotel carbon emission, and the cumulative carbonemission reduction is21%.Finally, the author summarized research conclusion, and pointed out the deficiency, andprospected for the future research direction.
