High silicon aluminum alloy has coefficient of thermal expansion which is matchedwith chips very well, also it has high thermal conductivity, low density, and high stiffness,these properties make it has great potential in product applications of aviation, aerospace,and military, such as microwave circuit, microelectronic devices and semiconductorintegrated circuit. In contrast to ordinary molding method, spray deposited high siliconaluminum alloy has relatively better compactness and higher silicon content, so it has bettermaterial properties. However, with silicon content increased, the material fragility raisesand its machinability decreases, particularly in the machining of deep micro hole onelectronic package, which is difficult for general machinery. With no macroscopic force,EDM has great advantages in the processing of hard and brittle material.Based on observation of spray deposited high silicon aluminum alloy microstructureand surfaces analysis before and after EDM, this article analysis the erosion forms of EDMwith water as dielectric.By Flow Simulation software, this paper simulates the fluid state during the process,and analysis the changes of velocity extremum of fluid under different liquid pressure anddifferent depth during the processing, gets the pictorial diagram of pressure and velocitydistribution.Through single factor and orthogonal experiment, and surface morphology analysis,this article gets the influence of the electrical parameters to the time of processing, theelectrode wear and surface morphology during the machining of small deep hole of spraydeposited high silicon aluminum alloy by EDM with water as medium, which provides thebasis for the choice of the experiment parameters.Through the single factor experiments, this paper gets the effects of electricalparameters to the processing time and electrode wear during the machining of micro deephole of spray deposited high silicon aluminum alloy by EDM. According to the results ofsingle factor test, orthogonal experiments were carried out trying to process micro-porewith the depth to diameter ratio greater than10. According to layered compensationprinciple, this paper sets experiments of micro milling.From this paper, EDM technology can realize the process of micro deep hole andsimple structure of spray deposited high silicon aluminum alloy.
