NOx emission from power plant is one of the contaminant that resulting in pollution of the environment. Among the several kinds of denitration technology, China has put more attention to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system due to its adaptability to coal-fired boiler. For the SCR system with normal operating, the security, stability and high-efficiency of catalyst is most important. And the performance of SCR denitration catalyst is the key that directly affect the Overall denitration efficiency of SCR system. Therefore, choosing suitable type and dosage of catalyst based on the practical operation conditions of the boiler is the key to design a SCR system for coal-fired boiler.The paper analyzes the mechanism of SCR denitration catalyst detailedly, and gives a suitable program to select the type and dosage of catalyst based on the different working condition. Moreover, the paper focus on the denitration project of the600MW active coal-fired boiler in Jinglong Power Plant, and points out that when select the SCR denitration catalyst, the coal quality, the boiler operation parameters, the gas flow in boiler, the rate of SO2/SO3and the fly ash properties are must be taken into consideration comprehensively. When the SCR system put into operation, an optimization operation scheme must be formulated to maintain the catalytic activity, and the operation scheme shoud based on the properties of the catalyst.
