Coal preparation is very important for coal industry production, in all kinds of coal preparation equipment, Dense medium cyclone has than other coal preparation equipment is small in size, itself has no moving parts, large capacity, high separation efficiency, etc, the application scope is more extensive, especially in difficult to choose coal, fine grained more high sulfur coal, coal oxidation desulfurization and separation has a good effect and economic benefit. Used in coal preparation methods of the increasing proportion of the cases, development of dense medium coal preparation has become the consensus of the coal industry. The theory study on the dense medium cyclone, the flow field simulation analysis has positive significance to the development of coal industry.About Dense Medium Cyclone is presented in this paper the flow field of the CFD model and algorithm. Based on the CFD model of the control equation, using Reynolds stress turbulence model (RSM), the hybrid model combined with free surface (VOF) of multiphase flow model is established within the cyclone gas-liquid and solid-liquid flow field calculation model of dense medium cyclone flow field is simulated. According to the simulation results, the paper analyzes the velocity field and pressure field in the cyclone, the density field, and the characteristics of the air column, etc; Proposed to improve the structure and the structure of the improved cyclone model simulation results and the common cyclone model simulation results are compared, In the view of simulation results, Involute type double inlet cyclone is better than the single tangent inlet cyclone.
