The spiral centrifuge is widely used in petrochemical industry, petroleum refining, coalindustry, medicine, light industry and other multiple industries. The horizontal screwcentrifugal machine (short for Three-phase decanter below) has a good performance on therecycle of oily sludge produced by refinery for three phase separation. The source of thissubject is based on the project of《Technology development of three phase(oil-water-sludge)separation in oily sludge》by China petroleum and chemical co. LTD. We design and researchLWS400Three-phase decanter by ourselves to develop homemade three phase separationequipment and to attain technology of three phase separation with independent intellectualproperty rights.Drum is important component of LWS400Three-phase decanter, its structure andparameter not only affect processing property of horizontal decanter centrifuge but alsodetermine the service life and operating security of horizontal decanter centrifuge. Throughdiscussing the drum parameter’s influence on the strength and the rigidity of drum underdifferent working conditions and the vibration of drum, which have a guiding significance onthe design and optimization of horizontal decanter centrifuge. The main content of this paperinclude four aspects below:(1) Analyzing and discussing the working principles and drum parameters of LWS400Three-phase decanter;(2) Introducing static&dynamic finite element analysis method of drum, making staticanalysis of LWS400Three-phase decanter’s drum and discussing the influence of drum’sstructural parameters and operating parameters on the strength and the rigidity of drum underdifferent working conditions by using ANSYS Workbench;(3) Making modal analysis and defining the natural frequency of LWS400Three-phasedecanter by using ANSYS Workbench to avoid mechanical resonance;(4) Under the condition of the safe operation of the horizontal decanter centrifuge,optimizing the drum’s structure parameters and operating parameters by using ANSYSWorkbench.Based on the above discussion, this paper obtains the following research results:(1) Obtaining rules that drum’s structural parameters and operating parameters’ influence on the strength and the rigidity of drum under different working conditions. Based on this rule,optimizing the drum’s parameters and acquiring new drum model.The optimized drum has alighter mass and lower start-power; the optimized drum’s operating parameters have a higherseparation factor, the performance of LWS400Three-phase decanter is improved;(2) Getting the results of natural frequency and corresponding vibration type of LWS400Three-phase decanter by making modal analysis.
