Photonic crystals (PCs) are some structures with spatial period whichare composed of different dielectric material. Under certain conditions, the PCs willpresent a stopband in the photonic band gap (PBG) where no optical modes can comethrough. Thus, such photonic band structure can control the action of light, forexample control the process of spontaneous emission, localized photons in specifiedarea, and guide light propagation along a particular direction at low lost. All of theseabilities have important potential applications in technology. Because the scale of therefractive index periodicity is in optical scale, the fabrication of PCs with completePBG in the optical regime is still a challenge. The preparation of photonic crystal withcommon methods has spherically symmetry in lattice point. So there is obviousdegenerate in the W-and U–point of band gap photonic structure. Sphericalcolloidal does not apply to form a complete band gap structure. Then, we canassemble anisotropic photonic crystals to effectively overcome these difficulties.We have assembled a group of three-dimensional photonic crystals ofnonmagnetic ellipsoids, inquired effectively the environment temperature for itsgrowth process, and tried to use ellipsoids with different sizes and aspect ratios toassemble photonic crystals. The main contents of this paper are presented as follows:Firstly, several preparation methods of photonic crystals are introduced systematically.After some comparison, analysis and exploration, we design set of self-assemblymethod combined with external magnetic field and the vertical sedimentation whichwas used to prepare anisotropic photonic crystals. And the superiority of the method isillustrated; Secondly, for some special anisotropic photonic crystals includes magneticellipsoid photonic crystals, non-magnetic ellipsoid photonic crystals and phosphorphotonic crystal, there are a large amount of exploration and research about thepreparation methods and the characterization methods of them. And we preliminarydesigned and determined the corresponding experiment scheme, hoping to provide thereference for the subsequent anisotropic photonic crystal experimental research.Finally, we focused on the preparation of non-magnetic ellipsoid of three-dimensionalphotonic crystals, made a effective exploration about its growing environment, tried toassembled ellipsoid particles with different sizes, different aspect ratios to three dimensional photonic crystals, and studied the influence of environment temperatureon the structure and quality of anisotropic photonic crystals. This part is acontinuation of the previous work and mainly to show the result of the experiment. Italso the key point of this thesis. Our study will be helpful for the preparation ofanisotropic photonic crystals.
