:In this work,TiAlN coating and TiN coating is deposited on stainless steel substrate by magnetron sputtering ion plating proc ess.The adhesion property of TiAIN coating and TiN coating are in vestigated using pressing indentation tests and scratch tests.The anti-wear property of coating isanalysed by multiple scratch tests and sli ding wear experiment.The oxidation behavior and anti-oxidation pro perty are analysed and summarized by high-temperature oxidation e xperiment.The main conclusion are as follows:1.The TiAIN and TiN coating prepared by magnetron sputterin g ion plating process exhibit smooth suface.The nanohardness of Ti AlN coating is2781HV and TiN coating is2172HV.Hardness of Ti AlN coating greatly increase due to add to Al atoms.2.TiN coating and TiAIN coating deposited on stainless steel s how good adhesion strength in pressing indentation tests.In scratch t ests,critical load of failure is8N for TiN coating,and TiAIN coating is13N.TiAIN coating have a better adhesion strength.3.Preparation of TiAIN coating on the tools can greatly improv e friction property and extend service life.The friction coefficient of TiAIN coating,are similar to TiN coating,but TiAIN coating posses s better anti-wear property due to the higher hardness.4.TiN is strongly preferred orientation along the (111) plane,a t ypical structure of NaCl.In TiAIN coating,the preferred orientation a long the (111) plane weaken due to Al atoms subtitute Ti atoms ca use lattice distortion.5.The anti-oxidation of TiN coating is poor.At500℃, TiN coat ing is oxidized to TiO2and the oxide film can’t protect TiN coatin g due to it’s not dense.For the TiAIN coating, at high temperature, The Al atoms in coating will occur out-diffusion,then Al atoms is oxidized to dense Al2O3film on the surface of coating.The dense fi 1m can effectively prevent O atom,and protect the TiAlN coating.Th erefore,The oxidation of TiA1N coating develops at900℃.
