After wet flue gas desulfurization(W-FGD) at coal-fired power plant,the fluecontains large amounts of mist, gypsum particles, small amounts of other heavymetal particles. If not effectively removed,it will cause corrosion of subsequentdevices, pollution of the surrounding environment, the great hazards on the humanbody. In order to avoid the corrosion of subsequent equipment and environmentalpollution, wet flue gas desulfurization towers are equipped with desulphurizationdemisters. However, due to the rapid development of economy, and the dramaticincrease in the consumption of electricity, the pollution is increasing in thesecoal-fired power plants. The development of traditional desulfurization demister isslow so that the efficiency of desulfurization demisters always limited, especially themicron and submicron sized particles can hardly be captured. Now many defects onthe traditional desulfurization demisters have become more apparent. Therefore, theresearch on efficient demisting technologies is particularly important in thedesulfurization tower.Firstly, through searching literature,the article overviews mechanism, structuralfeatures, performance parameters, influencing factors and common problems andcauses, and briefly describes the principles of other separation techniques, structuralcharacteristics and the status quo.Secondly, the article based on the theory of the traditional plate demister andother separation techniques, combined gas-liquid separation and conditions in wetflue gas desulfurization, proposed efficient demisting technique in desulfurizationtower and studied deeply:①Transformation of content is presented and the modelconstructed and calculated on the traditional desulfurization demister;②The articleanalyzied the mechanism and cause of scale formation on the plate,and proposed theidea of antifouling coating or coating about the traditional plate demister;③Byelectrostatic demister (dust) technology inspired, the article proposed electrostaticdemisting technology and analyzied efficiently about key structures in electrostaticdemister;④Due to large volume, high gas velocity in wet desulfurization in the future,the cyclones demisting technology will have a broad application space.The articlesbased on theory of cyclone technology and calculated the key parts of cyclonedemister;⑤The wet electrostatic precipitator and membrane plates have a lot ofsuperior characteristics which applied for treating the flue gas after W-FGD. Finally, the article briefly comments the principle, separation efficiency,structural characteristics, environmental and economic aspects on efficient demisterand traditional plate demister, and gives the relevant suggestions about the selectionof desulfurization demister, and prospects that the efficient demisting technologieswill make a significant contribution to energy saving in coal-fired plants.
