In this thesis,the syntheses of ethylene carbonate with urea were conducted.First ofall, the synthesis was conducted with high purity of urea and ethylene glycol in a250ml glass reactor and find optimal conditions: temperature is150℃, reaction timeis6h, reaction pressure is atmospheric pressure, the amount of catalyst is4%theamount of urea, the ratio of the mole fraction of urea and ethylene glycol is1:1.5. Andthe results of experiment indicate that synthesis of urea and ethylene glycol can beused with high yield of ethylene carbonate,it can reach94.59%. After optimal reactionconditions, the process scaled up to a ordinary reactor and a impinging stream reactor.In the same reaction conditions, the yiled of product in the impinging reactor is90%,and is higer than the result of the ordinary reactor which can only reach85.92%.Reducing the reaction temperature and the dosage of catalyst, the yiled of product inthe impinging stream reactor can also reach85.78%. What’s more, taking that theethylene carbonate may decompose into ethylene oxide and carbon dioxide intoaccount, we had a preliminary discussion on the influence of catalyst and reactiontemperature and solution concentratoon on ethylene carbonate decomposition.Due tothe degree of visibility of impinging stream reactor is not high,this paper is also simulate mixing characteristics of VCISR for the further research of its mixing mechanism.Vertical circulation impinging stream reactor (Vertical Circulative Impinging Stream Reactor, VCISR) was applied to liquid or liquid as the continuous multi‐phase reaction system to the new reactor, the basic concept of impinging stream was to promote micro‐mixed characteristics using impinging stream, create a high and uniform environment of sedimentation, and provide a longer average remaining time to meet the needs of most the reaction systems.STAR‐CD software was used in this paper to simulate mixing characteristics of VCISR for the further research of its mixing mechanism. The results showed that the mixed information and flow pattern of flow stirred tank, which providing a viable basis for its research and future development.When it was used for gas—liquid—solid three-phase methanol synthesis,animpinging stream reactor showed good heat and mass transfer performance. Thisarticle theoretically analysis the feasibility of synthesis of ethylene carbonate withimpinging stream reactor, and made some suggestions and comments.
