| Studying on the effects of the toughened Zirconia coatings (ZrO2-8%Y2O3) preparedby the plasma spray technology and laser cladding technology on improving rolls’ life isthe main research content of this paper, which was determined by the missions completedand achievements during the last years.After summarizing the problems in practice, reviewing relevant literature, contrastingvarious thermal spray materials and preparation processes of coatings and considering thefunctionality, economy and some other factors, select the toughened Zirconia powder asthe material of the coatings and chose the plasma spray technology and laser claddingtechnology to prepare coatings.First of all, prepare toughened Zirconia coatings on the steel plate and cylindricalsurface of H13by plasma spray technology and laser cladding technology. Preparemetallographic specimen with the materials mentioned above, observe the innerorganization structure of the coatings by SEM and analyze the spectroscopy of thecoatings. The result is: the coatings’ organization prepared by laser cladding technology ismore compact and has less pores and cracks than those prepared by plasma spraytechnology.Secondly, we got the result that rolls’ life with coatings prepared by laser claddingtechnology is longer than those with coatings prepared by plasma spray technologythrough the experiments done to measure the coatings’ hardness, abrasive resistance,bonding strength, resistance of heat shock and resistance of high temperature oxidation.Finally, roll plates on the small two-high mill to observe the transformation of thecoatings. The result says, the coatings prepared by plasma spray technology on the roll’ssurface began to fall down while those prepared by laser cladding technology not after along time. By doing this experiment, wo can find the coatings prepared by laser claddingtechnology can improving the roll’s life more obvious than those prepared by plasmaspray technology. |
