This paper mainly discusses and studies the production methods and axial compression loadperformance on Laminated Veneer Hollow Column. And the simulation analysis is done byANSYS.According to GB/T20241-2006, the moisture content of the poplar veneer is6%to10%.Application of adhesive is200g/m2by hand—gluing. A rubber band with a spiral wound typepressure mode is used to produce9hollow columns. The Moisture content is9.8%.According to GB/T50329-2012pressure lever test, it takes ball joints as the support meansand a continuous uniform loading of the specimens to do axial compression load testing.Through the analysis about the load—strain curve, it shows that the entire testing processcan be roughly divided into three stages. And a slight bend phenomenon can be found before thefinal destruction of the specimen. It is in line with the theory—the long pole in the axialcompression test will show an instability phenomenon with more than material proportionallimit.An orthogonal experiment is used in this paper. And through the orthogonal experimentintuitive analysis and variance analysis, it shows the Primary and secondary order factors:j d l. And factor j has a significant influence on the ultimate load of the hollowcolumn. A further analysis is done about j and d, showing that: when considering only withthe impact on the ultimate load of j and d, the ultimate load of hollow column will decrease ifj is bigger and the ultimate load of hollow column will increase if d is smaller.Using the experimental data, it shows the following relationship betweenFc rand l,j,dbysolving overdetermined equations:F=p (0.025157-0.00030l21-jcr48)djp is3.14, the unit of d is mm, the unit ofFc ris KN.The stress analysis of hollow column is done by ANSYS. A constant load which is less thanthe ultimate load is taken as load bearing. In such a constant load, hollow column shows morerealistic situation about Loading. Local stress and strain concentration will appear at the bottomof the hollow column. According that, during the actual use of hollow column, it is necessary forus to reinforce the top and bottom positions to ensure its carrying capacity. This conclusion hasimportant practical significance and applied value.
