The traditional rare earth electrolytic cell with cathode and anode on the top which has the upper space is tight, low production efficiency, low degree of automation, such as the worker labor intensity big drawbacks. And with the large-scale development of rare earth metal molten salt electrolysis industry, as well as the national energy conservation and emissions reduction in metallurgical enterprises require further improve, increasingly exposed the structure trough type is not suitable for the further development of the electrolytic cell. For this, combined with the advantages of industrial aluminum electrolytic cell structure, using the commercial software ANSYS, to carry out the new20kA cathode electrolyzer neodymium rare earth liquid trough type design, and the corresponding electrolytic preparation technology has carried on the preliminary exploration. The main results obtained are as follows:1) Using the commercial software Ansys10.0to20kA liquid cathode electrolyzer neodymium rare earth coupling electric field, thermal field simulation calculation, in combination with20kA heat balance analysis of liquid inside the cathode electrolyzer neodymium rare earth20kA basic trough type liquid cathode electrolyzer neodymium rare earth is cylindrical, determine the anode radius is84cm, polar distance of10cm,92cm radius of20kA neodymium cell liquid cathode structure is at the bottom of the ideal channel, the structure of the groove thermoelectric simulation shows that the electric field distribution uniformity, thermal field temperature difference is small, heat conservation.2) According to the result of simulation calculation, make20kA totally enclosed liquid cathode electrolyzer neodymium construction design, structure design and determine the anode in the electrolysis process, hoisting fixed and oxidation protection, automatic feeding system and siphon out, this is20kA implement automatic liquid cathode neodymium rare earth electrolysis process to lay the technical foundation.3) The liquids temperature of NdF3-LiF binary system in different ratio was tested by DSC to map out the experimental phase diagram, at the same time, Calculating phase diagrams were obtained according to the CALPHAD method. Finally, the fusibility diagram of this system was determined. Computer processing was used to fit the mathematical model of liquids temperature in two different phase diagram and the suitable mixture ratio of industrial fused salt electrolysis neodymium was put forward.
