With the development and progress of industrial level, the manufacturing sectoris also moving to a new time. The development level of a country’s manufacturingsector directly affects the economic development and national security building,which in turn depends on the level of precision and ultra-precision machiningtechnology on manufacturing CNC machine tools and other manufacturingequipments. Currently, the precision stability of CNC machining is disturbed bygeometric error, thermal error, motion error and positioning clamp error and otherfactors, and the effect of thermal error on CNC machines has become increasinglyapparent. Numerous researches prove nearly40%to70%of the whole error of CNCmachine tools is the thermal error. Therefore, the development of effective thermalerror compensation system for ensuring the accuracy of CNC machining isimportant. In this paper, the real-time thermal error compensation controller on CNCmachine tools based on embedded is designed for the purpose of decreasing thethermal error in the process of manufacture.Firstly, in order to establish the whole frame of the real-time thermal errorcompensation controller, the situation of research about CNC machine tools thermalerror and the ways to deduce the thermal error have been studied. The semi-closedloop feedforward mode and pulse superposition are decided to be used in thermalerror collection and thermal error compensation by studing the structure of dataacquisition mode about thermal error feedback and comparing the methods ofthermal error compensation.Secondly, according to the whole framework of the the real-time thermal errorcompensation controller, a plan including hardware and software is proposed toachieve it. The plan is implemented after finishing the hardware design and softwaredesign.Finally, the thermal error compensation controller is installed on a CNC millingmachine with "Huazhong CNC ShiJiXing HNC-21M" numerical control system andeach unit circuit has been verified. The real-time thermal error compensation controller on CNC machine tools based on embedded is proved to be effective bytesting on directional (positave and negative) movement and manufacturingmovement.This thesis has resolves the problems of CNC machine tools about real-timeperformance, simplify and generality according to the above research. The real-timethermal error compensation controller on CNC machine tools based on embeddedhas realized the function of the thermal error compensation and it not only improvethe precision of CNC machine tools but also promote the machining industry.
