With the rapid growth of population and the speed-up of the industrialization, freshwater resources became into shortage more and more. Additionally, serious waterpollution has caused a huge threat to urban water supply security. At present, with thediversity of marketization of urban water supply industry, government became thesupervisor and regulator of water market. water quality supervision on urban watersupply become the core content of water supply market regulation, which need to befinished in a short time, especially in emergencies or for determination of volatilecontaminants easily. This puts forward the higher request for the efficiency andscientificity of the detection methods.Based on construction of a vehicular GC-MS, this study optimized the mainconditions for the determination of volatile organic compounds in water. By comparingwith the detection limit, accuracy and precision of the conventional GC-MS, itsapplicability for the determination of actual samples were evaluated furthermore. Themain conclusions were listed as follows:(1) Linear correlation coefficients for22kinds of common volatile organiccompounds in water were greater than0.99, indicating that there are good linearrelationships between the corresponding values of each component and the content ofstandard. Almost all SD values of each target are less than0.15, thus the relativestandard deviation less than15%; when the mark concentration was4μg/Land36μg/L,most of the precisions of the targets are lower than5%, and recoveries are between90%to110%. From the standard curve correlation, analysis precision and accuracy, all of theabove instructed that the constructed vehicular GC-MS system has applicability on thedetection of22kinds of volatile organic compounds.(2) The vehicle GC-MS and conventional GC-MS showed similar linearcorrelation coefficients of each standard curve and were greater than0.99which allmeet the provisions of the national standard method. With the Purge-trap pretreatmentmethod, the minimum detection limit of the vehicular GC-MS are higher than that of theconventional type of GC-MS, indicating that the conventional type of GC-MS is betterthan vehicular GC-MS, of which the minimum detection limits were lower than0.51μg/L, but still it meets the provisions of the national standard method and is timeliness.Recovery rates of each target in pure water are parts of advances and were all between80%and120%%, which could meet the requirements of the state(3) The constructed vehicle GC-MS in this study is very applicable for the analysisof volatile organic compounds in actual water samples from all the aspects of detectionlimit, precision and accuracy.
