Seal coating is a kind of material widely used on casing in compressor or turbine. Itsperformance will directly affect the tightness of the gas path.As the key equipment forevaluating the performance of the abradable seal coating, UHATS(Ultra-high-speedHigh-temperature Abrasion Test System) plays an important role on promoting thedevelopment of advanced aircraft engines of China. This is a strategy equipment in thedevelopment of advanced engine. So in order to accurately evaluate the performance of sealcoating,it needs to improve the abrasion testing system and do research on quantitativeevaluation methods of seal coating.In this paper, firstly, on the basis of the research of the existing seal coating testingsystems,summarizes the typical evaluation method.From engine simulation performanceanalysis of UHATS, required performance specifications of seal coating abrasion test anddesign requirements are raised. And the key technologies are achieved. Verify testingmachine to reach the performance requirements after testing.Secondly, through UHATS performance analysis, there are some errors in seal coatingmicro feed precision. A combination of factors of ultra-high-speed rotor radial deformation,high-temperature thermal expansion of the rotor and rub vibration between stator and rotoraffact micro feed precision causing large micro feed errors. So micro feed compensationmethod is put forward.Finally, test data of several typical seal coatings are analyzed using UHATS. Analysefriction and wear characteristics which can reflect the changes in the seal coating surface.Friction and wear characteristics index such as coefficient of friction and wear ratio areclosely related to the coating densification or peeling phenomenon. Seal coating wear test isgreatly affected by heat at room temperature.Through the analysis and processing of testdata under450℃, fitting parameters and fitting curve can be a kind of quantified evaluationmeans.UHATS gets a large extent improvement on micro feed. Quantitative evaluation method is put forward using UHATS for testing. Provide a reference for future research onseal coating evaluation.
