TDI is the abbreviation of toluene diisocyanate. It is a very important organic chemicalraw material. Recently, as the raw material of production of polyurethane, TDI is appliedmore and more extensively with the development of polyurethane industry.Presently, production and separation process of TDI mainly import foreign technology, the domestic degree is lower. The process packet data of TDI is not very perfect. Thesimulation of the overall flow-sheeting of TDI separation process and energy optimizationis less involved at home.In response to these problems, this paper is mainly studying simulating the separationprocess using process simulation software Aspen Plus, which is based on the existingindustrial data of the TDI separation process by the means of thermodynamic model of PRequation. During the process of simulation, the sensitivity analysis of main chemicalequipment is made.Since feed-in components of TDI separation process is more complex, this article inthe simulation considers TDI, ODCB, COCl2, HCl, TDI tar, CCl4approximation instead ofcomplex components. Because TDI tar does not belong to Aspen Plus database, theestimation methods are used to estimate the basic thermodynamic parameters of TDI tar.The binary interaction parameters estimation formula is used to estimate the binaryinteraction parameter values, which can improve the accuracy of the simulation calculations. Finally, the tearing and iterative process technology to accelerate the whole process areused in the separation process. Exergy analysis and energy optimization are also included inthe paper, energy saving extent of the first ODCB recovery tower is27.3%.In a word, results of this paper can be used to supplement the process packet data ofTDI. It is significant to improve the energy utilization level of TDI separation process aswell.
