| Nowadays, the development of functional textile products is a hot research topic in the textileindustry. The function of textile has been imparted by using finishing technics and man-madefunctional fibers, but the methods mentioned above are always high in energy consuming andpollution process. In addition, if the final products contain residue beyond criterion, it may bedangerous to our healthy.Kapok fiber has bacteriostatic property and anti-mite function. In this paper, we tested thebacteriostatic property, anti-mite function, deodorizing property and durability for hot or wettreatment of kapok fiber, and then we designed an anti-mite textile by utilizing anti-mite functionof kapok and optimizing regular finish. At the same time, we designed an isolation mite textile byusing high weave density technology. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:1) Kapok fiber has stronger antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli than against theStaphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial effect of kapok fiber from Hainan is superior to kapokfiber from Indonesia. While high temperature and high pressure treatment (121℃,103kPa,15min)has negative effect on the antibacterial effect of kapok, it cannot meet the demand of GB/T20944.2-2007. After been treated by medical alcohol, pigment dissolves in alcohol, andantibacterial substance not dissolves in alcohol.2) The reasons why kapok fiber has stronger antibacterial activity are as follows: On onehand, the companions of kapok fiber contain flavonoid and triterpenes, which have antibacterialactivity. On the other hand, from the morphology, kapok fiber has high hollow capacity and highspecific surface area, which lets kapok fiber has enough oxygen and has excellent absorbencypermeability. The test results showed the kapok textile products has weak antibacterial activity, itproved the antibacterial activity of kapok fiber is damaged by regular manufacture process.3) During the regular finishing process, kapok textiles treated by using different liquid substances at different temperature, and the anti-mite property of kapok textiles would bedamaged. To solve this problem, we propose a new finishing process: kapok knittedfabric→boiling off→soft finishing→dehydration→drying→stenter. Compared to traditionalfinishing process, new finishing process dismissed the bleach process and other process, so it is ashort process which is friendly to the nature and to the kapok textiles. To design a kapok textilewhich has excellent anti-mite property and nice handle, we setted the parameter of finishing andoptimized it. At the same time we designed an isolation mite textile of kapok, the observationresults of undering smaller scale by using the Scanning Electron Microscope was showed thestructure of kapok textile is compact and kapok fiber is flatted in the textile. The kapok fiber playsan important role in the filtration of the mites. The test results by National institute of parasiticdiseases Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NIPD) showed the isolation mitetextile of kapok has excellent isolation rate which is more than92%.4) The deodorizing properties of kapok fiber to acetic acid is superior to cotton, while thedeodorizing properties of cotton fiber to acetic acid is superior to polyester fiber. Placing thekapok stockings11hours after they were used for13hours. The odor strength difference betweenkapok stockings and cotton stockings is very small, but the odor strength of kapok stockings islarger than that of polyester stockings. The above results showed kapok stockings and cottonstockings have the similar absorbency ability, kapok fiber was damaged by different liquidsubstances at different temperature and external mechanical force during the productive process.Polyester stockings don’t have ability of sweat absorbency, so it provide a good environment forthe growth of bacteria. |
