As a new type of composite material, copper clad aluminum busbarintegrate high electrical and thermal conductivity of copper, light and cheapof aluminum, satisfied both performance and price requirements. Accordingto the defect of the traditional methods, the paper introduces the drawingprocess to composite copper and aluminum, the process is simple with thesimple equipment, and the product has a high surface quality. Moreover, theprocess can control the reaction between copper and aluminum in thecomposite interface, in order to avoid the generation of brittle compounds thatinfluence the electrical properties. The interface bonding strength can improvewith the drawing pass increasing. The research on copper clad aluminumbusbar through drawing process can be summarized as below:(1) Based on the structure features and design criterion of drawing die,combined with performance requirements of the product, drawing pass, thesize of blank and extension coefficient of every pass is set. Mold sectionparameter of every pass is calculated and a set of drawing die is designed andmanufactured.(2) The drawing process is set to do the process test, the copper cladaluminum busbar is manufactured through surface treatment, pre-upsetting,drawing and stress relief annealing. The product has high quality, satisfiedelectricity performance with uniform deformation.(3) According to the traditional methods of interface bonding strength,the symmetry shear strength test is introduced and the interface bondingstrength is77Mpa; The tensile test and bending test is set to verify the tensilestrength and the bending property of the product. The tensile strength of the copper clad aluminum busbar reaches166Mpa and the product does notappear crack when it is bended to90°。(4) Microstructure and composite interface chemical composition ofcopper clad aluminum busbar is observed. Comparing the product withdifferent process and deformation, forming property of drawing is verified,composite mechanism and influencing factor of copper clad aluminum busbarin the multi-pass drawing composite process is analyzed.
