In this thesis, some metal-organic gels were synthesized byhydrothermal synthesis and solution synthesis method, using N-donorligands, such as4,4’-dipyridine, phenanthroline derivatives andterpyridine derivatives, as bulding units. The metal–organic gelsstructure was characterized by various spectroscopic methods and amechanism of assembly was discussed on the basis of the obtained data.Some properties of the metal-organic gels were also investigated. Thedetail contents are listed as follows:First, a new metal–organic gels were synthesized by hydrothermalmethod using excess4,4′-bipyridine ligand as building units, while silvernitrate and4,4’-dipyridine were empoyled as starting materials. Themetal–organic gels retained the characteristics of both the metal–organicframework of Ag(4,4′-bipyridine)NO3and gels; furthermore, thereversible hydration/dehydration, reversible anion exchange, andresponsive properties were also investigated.Second, some metal-organic gels were obtained by hydrothermaltechnique using2-(4-hydroxy benzene) imidazole[4,5-f]-[1,10] phenan-throline,2-(3,4-hydroxyben-zene) imidazole (4,5-f]-[1,10] phenanthreneand some metal salts as starting materials. These metal-organic gels showsome interesting properties, for example, variety of colors, opticalcharacter, thermal stability and resistance to acid and base etc. Their homologous polyurethane polymer with potential dyeing and catalystproperties were obtained by further polymerization reaction withisocyanate.Finally, four terpyridine derivatives,1,4-bis(2,2’:6’,2’’-terpyridine-4’-yl)benzene(4a)、1,3-bis(2,2’:6’,2’’-terpyridine-4’-yl)benzene (4b)、1,4-bis(2,2’:6’,2’’-terpyrazine-4’-yl)benzene (4c) and2,6-bis(2-pyrazinyl)-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) pyridine (4d) were synthesized and theircoordination polymer P1, P2, P3and P4were formed in the presence ofmetal salts undergoes the coordination rection. The polymers werecharacterized by various spectroscopic methods, such as NMR, SEM,TGA, UV and fluorescence spectrum. The potential applications of thepolymers were also discussed.
