Industrial Dust accounts for a large proportion in the atmospheric pollutants. It is not only harmful to human’s survival, but also caused a lot of waste of resources, therefore must be treated before discharging. Dust collector is a kind of important equipment to protect environment and improve utilization rate of resources, which has been widely used in various industries and the dust removal efficiency can reach more than90%. However, it has two big problems:(1) Dust remover usually has the certain temperature range, high temperature gas must pass cooling device before getting into the dust collector, which causes degradation of energy quality, while due to the stability and economy are not up to the requirements, current high temperature dust collector is not well applied in industries;(2) The collecting efficiency for small dusts is low.This paper is to study the granular layer dust, which is a device to separate aerosol particles from the gas stream when it flow through slag, sand, activated carbon and other materials. Granular bed filter has high removal efficiency, at the same time, it resists corrosion, high pressure, high temperature, and its filter material has extensive sources. It is a kind of ideal high temperature air purification equipment, and has the widespread application prospect. But its problem is the high filtration efficiency is often accompanied by high pressure drop, which restricts the development.In view of the above problem, this paper studies the dust removal mechanism, previous steady model and transient model of fixed granular bed and deduces the efficiency and pressure drop equations. From which we can conclude that dust collection efficiency and pressure drop of the fixed bed have relevance with filter particle diameter, bed height, filtration velocity, dust concentration, bed structure and filtration time.According to the filtering characteristics of the fixed bed, in this paper I build fixed bed dust experiment platform, design the measuring method of the collection efficiency and bed pressure drop. Changing the above factors and reverse blowing operation parameters, the variation principle of collection efficiency and bed pressure drop can be obtained. From the experimental result, we can conclude that layered media is an effective way to solve the contradiction between high removal efficiency and low pressure drop.
