Flatness as an important indicator of quality, reflecting the quality of coil products whether it is good or bad directly, has always been valued by the steel manufacturer. How to effectively control rolling process on the flatness is becoming an important reseach for more and more enterprises and research institute.This paper, based on researching of traditional flatness control mill such as UCM and CVC, PLTCM of Meishan Steel for the background, analyzed the selection and design of the process control system, researched the feature and thinking of5stands mill UCM flatness control system. The flatness control system was low-precision and could not reflect the real-time control needs of sense. Because its preset is consist of WR/IMR bender, IMR shift and target curves which is set by searching constant tables. But Meishan PLTCM mainly produces higher requirements on the flatness and horizontal thick and poor unit such as tin plate. Compared with ordinary cold rolling unit, the unit has the higher requirements for incoming profile shape of the upper stream of hot rolling. The influence of hot rolling material for cold rolling flatness according to the researching on actual rolling data and operating procedures is analyzed. Then a measure that improves the accuracy of plat-shape preset model calculation by incoming material profile measuring was raised. It includes curve fitting technique based on the incoming material profile measuring data, based on-line system of the bending force and shifting computing technology, as well as feedback control based on exports of plate-shaped data acquisition optimization techniques, and established the flatness control preset mode that based on incoming material measuring. The mathematical model of the basic parameters of the rolling mill equipment, strip basic parameters (including the measured cross-section information of hot-rolled incoming) and the rolling process parameters as input, mechanism model line calculation to determine the optimized plate-shaped regulatory agencies setting, executing agency efficiency coefficient and flatness target curve. Because of the adaptive model parameters, he forecast accuracy of the plate-shaped model is improved.After the end of Meishan PLTCM testing, profile measuring for in-coming material based flatness preset model was used for actual producing. By analyzing actual data, this flatness control preset mode achieved the target, and further improved the quality of strip flatness on the basis of very high-speed rolling process stability, and improve the control accuracy of cold-rolled plate flatness quality and lateral thickness difference.
