Nowadays, beer is one of the indispensable consumption goods in China, and therefore beer industry has become a significantly promising field for development. The automation of beer production, like that of other beverage industries, features batch processing control and has remarkable industry characteristics. The priority of control system lies not in the complex logic control but in the data management based on batch processing control and real time fault treatment.This thesis selects the brewing section in beer production as the research subject. First, this thesis presents brief information on domestic and foreign development of beer techniques and production control, and then introduces the advantages of BRAUMAT by Siemens in brewing industry. In addition, based on the project of Budweiser in Suqian, this thesis places an emphasis on the detailed designation of BRAUMAT beer brewing control system and the fault diagnosis approach based on neural network.For theoretical study, this thesis proposes a fault diagnosis application based on neural network, in response to BRAUMAT’s low diagnostic rate and even failure in diagnosis for complex faults. With the discussion on control ideas and features of adaptive genetic algorithm, this thesis, combining the practical situation of brewing process, devises a revised version of adaptive genetic algorithm. At last, it is discovered that, by MATLAB simulation, the algorithm is of remarkable robustness and accurate conclusion.For practice, this thesis, based on the project, introduces BRAUMAT in details, a system developed by Siemens for the automation of food and beverage production. BRAUMAT has such functions as great recipe, order batch, upper supervision, tendency record and automatic alarm. This thesis designed a BRAUMAT system for brewing control, and the development of BRAUMAT can improve the automation of beer production, integrates diverse information and control production techniques. BRAUMAT has such features as high reliability, extraordinary performance, decentralized control and centralized supervision and management. BRAUMAT is composed of system engineers station and field control station to implement full-automatic control on all brewing sections by means of upper and lower microcomputer coordination supervision.Additionally, BRAUMAT system has been successfully transferred to clients and has already been put into practice. According to the feedbacks, BRAUMAT boasts high stability and excellent operability.
