For a long time the technical personnel of smelting factory use traditionnal method todevelop electrolytic cell.They make a variety of different parameters electrolytic cell,and dothe experiments.After that which one have good current efficiency and long life is clear up.Tish develop method have disadvantages of long cycle and high cost.If we get reference forstructural parameters from the theory and simulation results, the cost and cycle of developelectrolytic cell will reduce greatly.Electrode distance and the distance from electrode to the bottom is important structuralparameters.trying to get the two structural parameters of8KA rare earth electrolytic cell is atask in this paper.On the basis of reference from aluminum electrolytic cell,mathematicalmodel of electric field and temperature field were established.In this paper electric field andtemperature field with different structural parameters were simulated.Analysising the impactto field and temperature field with only one of structural parameters change.Looking for aideal electrolytic cell with reasonable electric field and temperature field.Trying to find the relationship between electric field and temperature field.Making heatbalance calculation with the result of melt voltage from electric field simulation.Conclusionof heat balance calculation compared with conclusion temperature field simulation.And findthat they support each other.For electrolytic cells with structural parameters,which one meltvoltage is high it’ income is big and it’ temperature is high.According to the temperature fieldsimulation and analysis get a important conclusion that lift the cathode appropriate canrealize temperature control when the electrolysis process is in steady state.For example thetemperature is lower then the ideal one,we can falling cathode to get melt voltage and moreheat.Electrolytic temperature is a very important parameter in the electrolytic cells runing.Ifthe electrolytic temperature is appropriate or not is very important.It directly impact thecurrent efficiency、quality and production.In the actual production the worker judge melttemperature by obsering the color of melt with his eyse.then add the raw materrial.It get a badconsequences that bad current efficiency bid raw materrial wast.A temperature contol is needin the production workshop,which can instead of obsering color with eyse.It can measure anddisplay the temperature of electrolytic cells.At the same time it can reduce temperaturefluctuation.In this paper a scheme that rare earth electrolytic cell fuzzy self-tuning PID temperaturecontrol was proposed.A temperature control equipment from Rui Xin Rare Earth materials company was referenced. At the same time the transfer function of this system was derivated.STC89C51single-ship was used as controller.The motor and the cathode lifting equipmentwas used as excution unit.
