In spot welding equipment welding factory we most still use hanging spot welder now,mainly in the spot welding process workpiece, each solder joint has a direct relationship tothe quality of the final weld quality. Many welding defects are due to the changing ofwelding process specifications, welding quality monitoring methods are very skilled in chinaand abroad now, mainly including: welding current, welding voltage monitoring, electrodespressure monitoring, electrode displacement monitoring,ultrasound monitoring and othermethods, but each method still has some limitations. Various factors that affect the qualityof welding, the most important thing is that welding equipment can’t achieve the requiredwelding parameters. Hanging secondary cables of spot welder are wraped with the hose,even if the internal damage occurred, it is difficult to find, when the internal cables qualityhave problems, it lead the resistance become larger, increase the heat loss in the secondarycables, resulting not enough heat in the electrodes, affect the forming of nugget.The secondary cable is water-cooled cable, heat produced in the process of welding willnot produce high temperature and change the size of the cable conductor resistance. We canmake the cable as studied in room temperature20degrees cases.In this paper, we design a hanging spot welder secondary cables online detection devicewhich is capable of measuring real-time spot welding in the welding voltage of secondarycables, real-time voltage of the workpiece, as well as real-time current to calculate thewelding voltage,current, as well as resistance of the secondary cables, not only for thewelding parameters to be monitored,but also to determine the use of secondary cables.Through constant current control parameters and analysis of the methods for weldingworkshop hanging spot welder, we have designed a set can detect welding current, weldingvoltage and the ability to determine the extent of damage of the secondary cables programs.Welding current is collected using Rogowski coil, voltage direct acquisition at both ends of electrodes and cables, by the internal microcontroller A/D analog the information of themeasurement can be displayed in the LCD, and also can be sent to the PC via the serial port.The main contents of this paper is to design a secondary cables detection device whichis developing the next crew PLC. This device use a microcontroller STC12C5A16AD, alsoincludes the current and voltage sensors, signal conditioning circuits, serial circuit, LCDdisplay module. This article uses the Keil uVision4as a software development environment,designed initialization procedure, the signal sampling procedures and routines of eachmodule. Meanwhile design the anti-jamming measures for this device with hardware andsoftware.Secondary cables hanging spot welder online detection device use the STC12C5A16ADas the core, the specification parameters of spot welding can be monitored and determine thesecondary cable damage, not only the information can be displayed in LCD visually, butalso can be transfered to the PC.
