The characteristics of Dissolved organic matter (DOM) in sediment pore waters of the Yangtze estuary and in all water samples taken from A2O sewage treatment plant were systematically conducted, and mainly discussed the interaction between DOM and PPCPs using fluorescence quenching titrations combined with excitation emission matrix spectra and parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) and the effect of DOM on the adsorption of Sb on Fe-Mg LDHs. The results show that a relatively low DOC content was observed in the river channel than other two areas. However, the highest aromaticity shown from SUVA254, the highest humification demonstrated from the value of E2/E3and the highest amount of total acidity (including carboxyl group and phenolic group contents) were observed in DOM from the river channel. Two protein-like substances and two humic-like substances were identified in DOM from the Yangtze estuary by PARAFAC. C2and C3were the dominant proportion in the Yangtze estuary. It was seen that the complexation capacity values are the highest for DOM from River Channel.DOM in A2O sewage treatment plant presented neutral, and the removal rate of TOC and UV254is more than80percentages. DOM in the original water and sewage effluent were separated to three molecular weight distributions using a approach of UF fractionation. More than30KDa account for a majority of the total in the original water, however, the low-MW fraction range in the sewage effluent accounted for the largest proportion. Three humic-like components, one protein-like component and one xenobiotic component which be taken as a typical indicator component of sewage DOM were identified by EEM-PARAFAC analysis. Protein-like component and humic-like components have good complexation with carbamazepine, and MW potentially affects the binding behavior between DOM and carbamazepine.Finally, it is showed that HA and FA have no effect on the adsorption of Sb on Fe-Mg LDHs. The results showed that the removal of HA and FA were mainly via surface complexation as well as coagulation at the surface of LDHs, while the adsorption of Sb(V) was mainly via ion-exchange process. Fe-Mg LDHs/HA showed enhanced adsorption content compared with Fe-Mg LDHs, and it is suggested that they fitted the pseudo-second-order model. Intraparticle diffusion model the shows that there were indeed three steps for Fe-Mg LDHs and Fe-Mg LDHs/HA. The adsorption amounts of the Sb(V) on Fe-Mg LDHs and Fe-Mg LDHs/HA are independent of the pH. It is probably that it is related to the zero charge.
