Wuqi oilfield is located in the middle of most broad Shaanxi slope, Ordos basin. It is considered as a western monoclinic with the strike direction of NNE. Based on testing data and producting test data, it shows that the reservoir in this region is of low porosity and low permeability, low-yield, low-abundance, medium heterogeneity.A complete system of injection-production well spacing has formed in this oil area currently. In order to develop the crude oil more effectively, choosing Wuqi oilfield as the subject of study and using the theory of petroleum geology, the paper studies characteristics of sedimentary system, structure, sedimentary microfacies, reservoir characteristics, sand body morphology and distribution, development plans, and requirement and performance management, based on the well drilling, logging, testing, and producting test data. Also, based on the analysis of the water injection profile in Wuqi oilfield and the region’s geology, reservoir structure and reservoir characteristics, the paper does a sufficient theoretical analysis for water technical characteristics, injection and production advantages, screening geological conditions and realization of water injection technology. Finally, the paper studies systematically the oil well injection profile test, separate zone water injection technology, injection string anti-sticking technology, well sand-washing technology.The study result has been applied in water injection test of reservoir with low porosity and low permeability. It makes it possible to apply water injection in Wuqi oilfield. And the study results provide an important guide for other thin reservoir of low porosity and low permeability.
