Underground gas storage project invested by the World Bank (AKA UGS) is the first gas storage project of Turkey and also the first gas storage project of which Sinopec wins the bid. The smoothly completion of this project means Sinopec has reached the international leading level in the field of salt cavern gas storage, it will help Sinopec to lay a solid technical foundation for its own gas storage construction and also earn Sinopec a plot of land within the international gas storage market.The drilling technology been used in Turkey salt cavern gas storage preject is totally different with the regular well drilling technology.It request high borehole and cementing quanlity, plenty of special technology and test, such as vertical drilling technology in large diameter well bore drilling, large diameter coring technology in salt formation, technology of running big size gas tighten casing, gas sealed test and mini fracture test. All of these are belong to the rarely researched field of regular well drilling technology. The project will be a tough challenge of our regular drilling technology, also because of the upper formation serious leak and CO2gas cut entering into gypsum formation or on the top of salt formation caused by particular geological condition of Turkey salt cavern gas storage, we can use our existing technologies to speed up the advance of the salt cavern gas storage drilling technology and promote the innovation and development of drilling technology, effectively improve the drilling speed, economize plenty of drilling cost. The successful completion of Turkey salt cavern gas storage project will bring a important and far-reaching influence on the research and application of Sinopec and our domestic gas storage project.
