Paper industry is an industry which have high energy consumption and larger impact to environment, twin screw pulping extruder is a kind of machinery equipment of paper by meshing and screwing extrusion, it makes the pulping high quality, has less power and water consumption, so it is regarded as the third pulping equipment and acquired wide attention as well as recognition by the industry.The gear box of twin screw pulping extruder plays an important role to slow down and distribute power, and it works under large torque and axial force, so it should have enough strength, stiffness and vibration resistance. However, due to the low speed of two output shaft and two screw center distance, it is very difficult to design the gears and bearings.After reading lots of review literatures, firstly, the paper introduces the research status and development trend of twin screw pulping extruder, then chooses the reasonable gear box based on actual demand and makes finite element analysis to the drive shaft III and gear box of2000kW twin screw pulping extruder, after that, it proceeds with the optimum design to the gear box, finally, through analyzing, it makes sure the welding gear box can replace the casting one.The design and analysis process of the paper:Based on the preliminary design, it designs models through SolidWorks software, then makes finite element analysis(FEA) on the drive shaft III and casting gear box through the ANSYS software, after that, in order to obtain the minimum quality of the casting gear box, uses ANSYS optimum module to optimum design, finally, takes FEA to the model of the welding gear box. Comparing the result:in the same strength and stiffness, welding gear box can reduce the quality about25%. Also welding way can reduce the production cost and shorten the production cycle in small batch. This paper is of great significance to the design, research of the high-power twin screw pulping extruder, also it has certain reference to the similar productions.
