The Baosteel raw-material yard is one of the few huge material yards in the world, and its comprehensive-utilization rate is now at a very high level in the present situation of production. So there will be many difficulties to rapidly rebuild the huge yard on the condition of keeping the normal production of users. The tenet of engineering project schedule management is to complete the project as earlier as possible by taking the ways of scientific controlling and programming, which could not only reduce adverse effects of uncertain facts and maximize the benefit, but also create benefit in advance for the iron and steel production enterprise by completing the project earlier. The paper implements the research to the problems happening in the process of rebuilding the huge material-yard drainage by using the modern technology of project schedule management, and then put forward great solutions that could be the rich experiences for the future rebuilding.After four phases expansion since1982, the annual capacity of material-yard reaches more than0.13billion ton, which undertakes more than98%supply of raw materials in Baosteel. Under the situation that the production yield of coking, sintering, furnace plants and material variety increases continuously, the delay of rebuilding drainage system must bring huge difficulty to later production.The paper has performed detailed analysis and research to the project schedule management model basing on rebuilding the drainage system of Baosteel raw-material yard. As the local iron and steel enterprises scale is larger, the application efficiency and requirement to raw-material yard is higher. The research results of the paper could be generalized as large-scale metallurgical enterprises project schedule management model after standardization. And it is helpful to raise the whole project management level during construction period and good to help iron and steel enterprises save the project investment cost, at the same time it is a great experience for iron and steel enterprises being in construction and production simultaneously.Chapter one introduces the background, meaning, methods and content of the research. Chapter two introduces the theory, content and methods of modern project schedule management. Chapter three introduces the concrete procedures in project schedule management of rebuilding the drainage system of Baosteel raw-material yard combining with the current project management situation. Chapter Four summarizes the practical experiences of project schedule compiling for rebuilding the drainage system of Baosteel raw-material yard including the whole schedule method, goal, characteristic and task. At the same time it also makes a detailed introduction of the structure decomposition, coordination of all aspects of work, resource plan and the schedule establishment of this rebuilding project. Chapter five investigates the project schedule of rebuilding drainage system of Baosteel raw-material yard after collecting, organizing, comparing and analyzing the actual data, and study the adjusting principle and optimization method of schedule. The last chapter is the ending words.
