With the development of the automotive industry and the people’s increasingdemands of energy saving. Car Engine power has continued to improve and the weighthas continued to reduce. Therefore, the high quality and light intensity Al-Si alloymaterials are constantly replace the cast iron cylinder head and widely used. TraditionalAl-Si alloy material mainly by adding Cu、Mg and other alloying elements to improvethe mechanical properties, but the temperature mechanical properties are not ideal. Inthis study, adding Ni, Mn, Fe high-temperature strengthening element into containingCu,Mg Al-Si alloy, to improve the mechanical properties of high-temperature. Bydesigning two different gating system, using casting simulation software to simulate thetwo gating system’s casting and solidification processes. Find out casting andsolidification process possible problems and defects. Using appropriate methods toimprove and select the optimal gating system.Studied the microstructure and properties of the alloys after adding Cu, Ni, Mn, Fein Al-Si alloys. In the aluminum Fe is usually seen as harmful phase being restrictionsadded. However, Fe phase’s high temperature stability and strength is a good-phasestrengthening phase in aluminum alloy. Thus, the reasonable control of the morphologyof Fe phase inhibition of its harmful precipitates phase can greatly improve theperformance of high-temperature of aluminum-silicon alloy. Found that after Cu, Ni,Mn, Fe added in the alloy matrix precipitated containing Cu, Ni, Mn, Fe temperaturestrengthening phase, greatly improve the high temperature properties of the alloy.WhenFe content is low Ni as a main element of high-temperature strengthening element. Theprecipitated containing Ni high temperature strengthening phase in the alloy structureimproved the high temperature mechanical properties of the alloy. But with theincreased amount of Ni, the Ni-containing phase morphology becomes more lathedmassive and thick, reduced the mechanical properties of the alloy. Fe phase morphologyhave been greatly improved In Ni, Mn role. Produced containing Fe phase mainlyherringbone, petal-like and massive, to improve the mechanical properties of the alloy.The Fe-containing phase precipitated in the matrix organic combination with Nicontaining phase uniformly distributed in the matrix, Closed and semi-closed networkstructure is formed in the substrate, to a greater extent improved Al-Si alloys’ high temperature mechanical properties. Create the engine cylinder head and pouring risersystem is designed models by using Solidworks. Simulated gravity casting metal typeair-cooled engine cylinder head at different technology programs’ liquid metal fillingand solidification process by Procasst. Comparative analysised the surface smooth,filling integrity and filling time of the programs in the filling process and the overalltemperature distribution, changes in the solid fraction, the liquid metal feedingconditions and tendencies shrinkage during solidification of liquid metal. For defectsthat appear in the simulation, analysis the structural characteristics and location. At thetop portion of the additional small riser can significantly eliminate the defect and getacceptable quality castings.
