Because of its advantages such as high strength, strong corrosion resistanceand good heat resistance, stainless steel pipe are widely used in petroleum,chemical, medical, food, light industry and machinery instruments and metersand other industrial pipelines or mechanical structure parts. However, actually inthe process of stainless steel pipe’s production, it often needs to go through thehigh temperature solid solution treatment, which will form a layer of tissuedensity and hard, and combined with the matrix solid oxide skin on the surfaceof stainless steel pipe[1]. The existence of the oxide skin makes limited to itsapplication in some areas. How to remove the oxide coating on the surface ofthe stainless steel pipe quickly and effectively, and improve the quality of itssurface has great significance both to improve its value and broaden itsapplication domain.Magnetic honing technology is a new internal finishing processingtechnology that fully integrated the merits of magnetic technology and honingtechnology. It makes full use of the interaction force between magnetic field todrive the movement of the magnetic rotor abrasive in the stainless steel pipe’s inner cavity, which have overcome the workpiece’s movement requirements orthe honing rod’s rigid constraints in the honing processing, at the same timegained it’s high efficiency and high processed surface quality properly. So theremoval problem of the oxide coating in the stainless steel pipe’s inner surfacethat caused due to the particularity of its structure, which makes it difficult tomovement in the processing can be solved effectively. Of course, it also will bea very effective new method for other parts like long circular pipe’s innersurface finishing.The research purpose of this article is trying to solve the stainless steelpipe’s inner surface oxide coating removal problem that due to its specialstructure which makes it difficult to movement in the process of machining.Based on the previous research, and aimed at the stator’s serious heatingproblem that occurred in the previous trials when using the rotary magnetic fieldgenerator of electromagnetic type:1) Another form of rotating magnetic field generator (that’s themechanical permanent magnet type) to drive the magnetic rotor abrasive torevolve was raised and adopted, which could solve the stator’s serious heatingproblem as to broke the single continuous processing time limit.2) In order to compare their practical processing effect, the rotatingmagnetic field generator and its matched magnetic honing head of mechanicalpermanent magnet type have been designed and built on the basis of the originalequipment. 3) With the aid of magnetic field finite element analysis software-Ansoft,the modeling and analysis work have done respectively on them, then we usedthe analysis results comparing with the theoretical calculation, the result hasverified the feasibility of magnetic honing processing.4) The magnetic honing processing experiment has been carried outrespectively with two different form of magnetic field generator, What’s more,experiments with three different kinds of honing oilstone materials, two differentrotational speed and whether there was coolant have been carried as to exploreparts process parameters of the magnetic honing.The results show that: when using the rotating magnetic field generator ofpermanent magnet mechanical type, it could not only avoid the serious heatingproblem which limited the single continuous processing time when using theelectromagnetic type, and because of its permanent magnetic pole position canbe adjusted, it could not only applied to the machining of workpiece in differentdiameter, besides the workpiece’s loading and unloading will also be moreconvenient.
