Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) , with "all weather", day or night imaging capabilities, is an important role in the domination of Earth observation. Especially, in recent years, radar remote sensing made a great progress with the successful launch of ERS-1/2, JERS and RADARSAT.Multiple frequency, polarization and mode high resolution SAR has provided us enormous amount of data with the growth of radar system, which required that newer and more processing methods of radar data should be researched. It can be said that how to process the radar remote sensing data, how to extract the information, and how to transmit the information into knowledge useful finally is the most important problem for researchers in the field of radar remote sensing today.Edge information is one of the most important information in SAR images. Many targets are directly represented as edges. And more other targets should be detected by edge detection. The core thought of most of edge detection methods is calculating image grads, which will certainly magnify noise. Unfortunately, there is a large mount of speckle noise in SAR images. This is the most difficulty for edge detection in SAR images. In this paper, we studied the edge detection method in SAR images based on Daydic Wavelet, and application of active contour model. Considering, lake shoreline and road are represented as typical edge feature, so we do the experiment of detection of lake shoreline and road. The experiment proved that the edge detection method based on Daydic Wavelet can restrain the interfering of speckle; the two kinds of Daydic Wavelet filters can extract the two kinds of edge; the GVF snake can even converge into the devious parts of lake shoreline.
