With the rapid development of spationautics and remote sensing technology, a plenty of satellite images with high precision are produced, among which the linear array CCD image has satisfied the requirement of photogrammetry. It is of important value to study precise object positioning using these image data, of which the image geometric processing plays an important part.In this paper, the object positioning technology based on the linear array CCD image is researched, and its main work is as follow:1. Pretreatment of image data. There are several effective methods which are used toimprove image contrast, such as piecewise linear stretch, histogram equalization and histogram normalization and so on.2. The study of the object positioning technology based on the linear array CCD image.The discussed subjects include the modeling of image, the method used to estimate the initial values of the elements of exterior orientation, the strong correlation among the elements of exterior orientation, the ways to restrain it, the methods of object point positioning on the orientated stereo image pair etc.3. The rational function model(RFM). RFM has recently gained considerable interest inremote sensing community. Compared to polynomial models widely used, RFM is essentially a more generic and expressive form of various sensor geometry models. In this paper the aspects of RFM such as the theory, algorithm and characteristics are studied. In the end the best experimental result of SPOT and some satellite image are showed.
