This dissertation is based on the theory of Phase lock loop (PLL) and the design of frequency synthesizer, and the summing up of the work on the microwave and millimeter wave(mm) frequency synthesizer. Chapter 1 is a survey on the technology of frequency synthesizer, and then the characteristic of millimeter wave. The motive of this mm frequency synthesizer is also given in this chapter.Chapter 2 emphasizes on the PLL, first, introduce the module of basic components of PLL, such as phase detector, loop filter and the voltage control oscillate(VCO). Secondly, describe the theory of the linearity PLL. Thirdly, theory and technique of the digital PLL is discussed. The fourth, mainly talk about the phase noise in the PLL, and discuss the specific affect on out put phase noise caused by different components in frequency synthesizer, such as mixer, amplifier, multipler, divider, oscillator, phase detector etc. The last part is about how to choice the natural frequency of PLL in order to get the better performance in phase noise. Chapter 3 is mainly on the solid circuit of microwave. first, an analysis for the design of the impulse phase lock oscillate, which includes impulse phase detector the dielectric resonant oscillate etc. Secondly, presents an analysis for the design of wide band balanced low noise amplifier. The last two part simplify the theory and the Electrical Characteristics of the sub harmonic mixer, and the mmVCO.Chapter 4 emphasizes on the design of mm frequency synthesizer. First, from comparison of the precept of the frequency synthesizer, we make certain the precept of this dissertation. Secondly, from the theory of PLL, the precept of the mm frequency synthesizer is analysed, and the way to improve the Electrical Characteristics is put up. Thirdly, the specific design and the Electrical Characteristics of the mm frequency synthesizer are given.Chapter 5 gives the summarization about the dissertation, on the basis of above work.The main contributions of the dissertation are as follows: first, based on some results which have been made, by the used of the analogy PLL and the digital PLL, I ameliorates a precept of the mm frequency synthesizer, by this way I develop an mm frequency synthesizer, which can feed the request of some project.
