To analyse residual stress in shakedown state under contact load, a direct analysis method combined with finite element method was introduced and applied. And, in this paper the residual stress during contact based on cylinder and plane was given and compared with results from theory method.Main content of this paper as follows:First, relative plastic theory and finite element method algorithm were introduced. The applicable model of plastic was pointed out, additionally the direct analysis method theory was introduced and applied to analysis the residual stress of contact between cylinder and plane.More over the limit load of contact was computed with friction affection considered.Second, rolling and sliding contact between cylinder and plane was analyzed with ANSYS. Four state of contact state were studied, and the result show the rate of slide will affect the distribution of pressure in contact area and stress in the half plane.In the end, this research show that the direct analysis method combined with FEM is an applicable and efficient way to analyze residual stress in shakedown state under contact load.
