Polarizers, one of the most important optical modulators, are widely used in modem laser action technique, optical information processing, image-forming system, etc. The function of polarizers is to transform non-polarized-light into polarized one, which is the preparation for further modulation. With the sustaining development of modern optics, especially the emergence of laser, polarizers are becoming more and more widely used. Noteworthly, laser-polarizing prisms suitable for laser use emerge. Because of their fine extinction ratio and high anti-light-damage threshold value, laser-polarizing prisms are popular among workers in science and technology field. There are many types of laser-polarizing prisms, according to using conditions. In spite of their difference in the form of design, they are the optimum design based on a few kinds of prisms in common use. Many parameters are required to describe their performance, which is transmission ratio, extinctivity ratio, angle of view field, splitting angle, etc. Some of them have been researched in these years. This paper present new standpoints and improved recommendations on the base of the former work.The paper has six chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the general development of the polarizing devices, field of application, materials used, the primary forms of design of crystal polarizing prisms and the importance of the researches on this subject. The second chapter deduce the birefringenct property from Maxwell function. Chapter three .introduce the design principal of crystal polarizing prisms and beam splitter prisms, introduce phase retardation plate in short.Chapter four discuss the alteration between angle of view field and vary structural parameters such as structure angle and cemedin's refractive index, obtain determine structure angle in the max angle of view field, analyse the alteration of angle of view field influence of cemedin's refractive index, deducethe angle of view field Glan-Taylor prism. This paper study space angle of view field, apply related theory of spatial analytic geometry, make curves of space angle of view field and wavelength in several specific azimuth angles.In fifth chapter, we analyse the splitting angle of Rochon prism and Wollaston prism. This chapter put forward several improved programmes which can perform splliting beam symmetricly. Some of them are proved perfect.Six chapter research incidence angle's azimuthal effect of wave plate. This paper analyse the relation between phase retardation and incidence angle, azimuth angle in detailed by example of multiple-order quartz wave plate. And make the three-dimensional graphics. We can improve the graphics right by means of comparing two special conditions. Applying similar method, we study incidence angle's azimuthal effect of zero-order wave plate.
