The scientific achievement of the investigation into satellite gravimetry is another revolutionary progress in the international geodetic domain except for GPS. But there much difference in the investigation in China. Therefore, the basis problem of satellite gravimetry must be understood and lucubrated. This dissertation focuses on the theory, methodology and practical mathematical model for the global gravity field determination from satellite gravity gradiometry data. Firstly, the fundamental theories, characteristics and primary error sources of satellite gravity gradiometry are systematically described. Furthermore, the physical property of the Earth's gravity gradate is investigated, the spatial varieties and spectral distributing of it is estimated, and the sensitive range of the frequency of gravity gradiometry is obtained, which would direction the foundation of a satellite gravity mission. According as the expanding of spherical harmonics of the gravitational potential, the radial correction formula and the estimating error model are given. The theory of spherical harmonic analysis on the satellite gravity gradient tensor is also investigated, and the practical computing model is given. The mathematical model and computing method of theory of recursion least squares is given. Using the covariances function of potential, the model of covariances function between spherical harmonic coefficients and the second derivatives is derived. And the practical computation formula of least squares collocation is gained. Finally basing on the mathematical models above the simulation numerical examination and result analysis are carried out, some important conclusions are obtained.
