The seabed hydrothermal sulfide is another kind of extremely important seabed metal mineral resource type after the ocean polymetallic nodule and the cobalt-rich crust. The present prospecting method and technology for seabed hydrothermal sulfide have the following flaws: 1. these methods can discover the seabed "outcropping ore deposits", but cannot make a whole inference for the distribution range, scale and occurrence state of the ore spot; 2. low efficiency with high costs, these methods are not fit for the investigation and the appraisal of the large-scale seabed hydrothermal sulfide; 3. cannot effectively find the seabed hydrothermal sulfide ore spot hosted in the base of the detritus, the silt and the volcanic ash.According to the characteristics of high polarization of the seabed hydrothermal sulfide and the special request of the marine environment to the marine electromagnetic sources, the marine pseudo-random induced polarization method has put forward to investigate and appraise the seabed hydrothermal sulfide. According to this idea, this text has done the following job: 1. based on the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of all kinds of electromagnetic sources in the marine environment, the pseudo-random special waveform current as the excitation source has the characteristics of high efficiency and fast, which is the first choice method for the investigation and appraisal of the seabed hydrothermal sulfide in marine environment. 2. Through the generalization and analysis of the geological-geophysical characteristics of the seabed hydrothermal sulfide, the typical geological-geophysical models of the seabed hydrothermal sulfide were founded, the numerical calculation and indoor physical analogue were carried out, whose results show that the marine induced polarization method can effectively investigate and appraise the seabed hydrothermal sulfide, and at the same time the marine resistivity method cannot effectively distinguish the seabed resistivity difference because of the influence of the high conductivity seawater, so the seabed resistivity method cannot be used to investigate and appraise the seabed hydrothermal sulfide.
