Residual static corrections play an important role in general seismic dataprocessing flow. And that it is resolved well or not directly determine the effect andaccuracy of the stacked sections. And it has become a key problem that constrictsseismic exploration.Nowadays the techniques of residual static corrections base on reflection wave, always choose well-continual and high S/N ratio reflection layer as reference layerand make piloted trace on CMP stacked section. Then calculate and decompose theresidual static corrections of source and receiver using cross-correlation. But when theS/N ratio of reflection wave is low on stacked section, the reflection residual staticcorrections are invalid because we can't build a right piloted trace. Base on thisinstance, we put forward the residual static corrections technique using refraction firstbreaks. The principle of residual static corrections using refraction first breaks as follows:Firstly make linear moveout using a proper velocity to the seismic data in commonsource gathers, then sort them to CMP gathers. On CMP stacked section we chooserefraction layers as reference layer and make piloted trace. Then calculate anddecompose residual static corrections using reflection residual static correctionstechniques.Theoretical modeling and practical data processing shows that the residual staticcorrections using refraction first breaks given in this paper is feasible.
