Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) is a kind of superhard complex material which is made from diamond micro-powder and carbide by sintering process. In Polycrystalline Diamond Compact, the diamond crystal shows: unordered arrange, isotropy, and overcome the shortcomings as subsize, anisotropy, having cleavage plane of diamond monocrystal and so on. Because the PDC has the merits, as high hardness, high elastic ratio and good shock resistance of carbide, and has the characteristics, as high heat conductivity, low heat expansion rate, the PDC are used extensively in machining, oil drilling , geology drill and other areas.Because there is no more enterprise to use belt press to produce super-hard materials in China, PDC is made by cubic press mostly. Last time there were the reports about some enterprises used import belt press to make the PDC, but it is very few to use homemade belt press to made PDC.This research use diamond micro-powder as primary materials, Wc-Co as matrix, base on no any additive, by direct-heated way and indirect-heated way, using homemade 25MN belt press to sintering in high temperature and high pressure to get the samples. Then we analyse the samples by metallographic analysis ,ultrasonic testing, heating resistance testing, SED scaning electronic analysis, Raman analysis and x-ray diffraction analysis. Though this research, we analyse the seperating phenomenon of PDC and performance improvement on the belt press. This research shows : the pressure and temperature homogeneity on the sintering in superhigh pressure effect performance of PDC directly. (1) By direct-heated way to sintering, the heat passes quickly; the sintering time is short (3-5minutes), it is diffcult to control temperature and pressure parameter accurately , so the wear resistance is not high, and the performance is not stable. (2) By indirect-heated way to sintering, the sintering body has high wear and tear and good repeatability.
