Geoparks are individual natural areas with special purports of geological science. The main constitutions of geoparks are geological vestige landscapes with rarely natural attributions, highly value in aesthetic peculiarity, and possessing certain dimension and distribution. Author has searched the application of 3S technology in investigation and planning of geopark under the guidance of my tutor, Professor Li Youguo.There are two research projects of investigation and planning of geopark in this thesis: the spring and karst landscape geopark in Sichuan Junliang and the Shenglinshan karst landscape geopark in Sichuan Zizhong. Author carried out the study of application of 3S technology in investigation and planning of geopark through combining the application of 3S in exploration of ecological environmental geology, in investigation and planning of geological hazard, in investigation and evaluation of environmental geology of mining area.In outer environmental geological integrated exploration, author used RS to help the investigation of ecological types and distribution in whole area, used GPS to positioning measure of observation points, exploration points and domination points, to navigate of outer exploration, used GIS to store and assay data.By use GIS technology author established the spatial database of the element of geography, geology, minerals, landscape reservation, human landscapes and excursion.Author carried out remote sense image digital processing by using the remote sense image of ETM+ and SPOT5. We constructed the remote sense image map of geopark through overlaid the image with the spatial database. The maps were used as basis to assist the planning works of geopark.Author built the high-accuracy digital elevation model by draw the topographical data that were corrected by GPS.We formed three-dimensional field of view of landscape by overlaid the high resolution remote sense image with the high-accuracy digital elevation model. Then author produced film fragment in ARDAS INMAGINE 8.7, and used it in declaration film of geopark to overall demonstrate the elements of ecology, environment and planning of geopark.Author explored the study of application of 3S technology combined with integrated investigation of environmental geology. And we summarized preliminarily a series of work pattern of synthetically study of 3S technology in the borderline subjects of geology, environment, planning, tourism and so on.Though it is the initial stage of investigation and construction of geopark in our country, and the applications of 3S technology in these projects are little. Author has tried the application of 3S technology integration in this research period. It has been an important breakthrough in of geopark.
