For history period, the research of person and nature's interacting relation is one of the main contents in the research of history and geography, also the important path that we understand mankind to reform and make use of nature and environment recoil the mankind society. Water is the most close factor to relate to mankind in the natural geography environment, adding the current problem that town water resources lack to have become hard in the world, thus the research of relation between water and town got people's value increasingly.The Hexi Coorridor region locates our country northwest inland, belong to dry region in the natural area; it is placed in our country the agriculture takes alternately up herding from mankind history. This selected works takes that region as a research object, making use of theoriesand method of history and geography, studying the influence of water to the town distribute, position, history, scale,...etc. and town residents to change water environment, have certain typical model and represent meaning. With the comparison of other regions, we hope that could provide to the town develop road under water resources supervision from draw lessons.Sum up, this text is divided into several parts as follows:The first part: Introduction. It elaborated mainly to the choosing basis and meaning, introduced related research and the research contents and method.The second part: The ways to use water source during Ming and Qing Dynasty in the Hexi Corridor. That part carries on to restore history water resources as a whole to original, carried on an investigation to the ground water resourceses on earth's surfaces, such as river and lake...etc. and well, spring etc. respectively, laid solid foundation with water for the town residents.The third part: The town uses the discussion with water structure. That part carried on a discussion to the town to make use of water in the Hexi Corridor during Ming and Qing Dynasty . We could see that man use water mainly at town residents living, defend, town recreation, farmland irrigation and people to make use of water power directly etc.The Forth part: Water's influence to town. This part takes the ShiYang river area as an example first, check and supervise which elaborated to distribute water to the town, discussed the variety of headwaters immediately for the great significance of town development, then the difference made to elaborate to the beneficial and disadvantageous influence of water to transportation and inquiry the relation of town scale, made treatise to the variety of natural environment from the place name angle finally.The fifth part: The depravation of the Hexi Corridor environment and people replies measure. This part carried on a study to water environment worsen reason, and for water environment depravation under condition of the town residents' behavior and reflection carried on a research, end then to people for water disaster of prevent from and should carry on elucidation to the measure.All in all, to the conclusion: water resources in the Hexi Corridor during Ming and Qing Dynasty installs better than at present, this kind of superiority doesn't express on the total amount, but performance at that time to water quantity of the need wanted to be smaller than today. It is mainly concentrated on the farmland irrigation and town residents to live to use water, among them, the farmland irrigation take up big amount. The headwaters not only distribute, develops to the town, scale's etc. have importance influence, also reflecting the variety of the natural environment by place name. With the depravation of water environment, people have already known this problem and adopted a series of remediable measure.
